Is ABA therapy for adults the same as ABA for children?
No. Adult ABA looks closer to a working partnership than a structured pediatric program. You set the goals, sessions are conversational, and the work happens in real environments. No token boards, no compliance drills, no parents in the room.
Do I need a formal autism diagnosis to start?
For insurance-funded ABA, yes. If you don't have one, we can refer you to local clinicians who evaluate adults. While the diagnostic process runs, some clients begin coaching-style work on specific skill goals on a self-pay basis.
Will my Indiana insurance cover adult ABA?
Often yes for clients with a documented autism diagnosis, but coverage varies more for adults than for children. We run a benefits check before the first session. Self-pay and superbill options exist if you'd rather keep ABA off your insurance record.
How long does adult ABA usually last?
It varies. Some clients work intensively for three or four months around a specific transition and then wrap up. Others stay engaged for a year or longer. You decide when to stop. There are no locked-in contracts.
Can sessions happen somewhere other than an office?
Yes. In-home, at work when appropriate, and in community settings throughout Carmel. That might mean a coffee shop in the Arts & Design District, a Kroger on a Saturday afternoon, or a quieter stretch of the Monon Trail.
