ABA Parent Training and Support for Autism in Carmel, IN

What is ABA Parent Training?

Parent Training is a guided coaching program where MindWay clinicians teach you the same evidence-based tools and skills we use in sessions with your child. We show you how they learn, why behaviors happen, and what truly works, so progress continues beyond therapy hours.

Parent training is one of the most effective ways to improve follow-through at home and support long-term skills.

At MindWay, we come alongside you just as much as we come alongside your child. Whether it be through our parent support groups, or help navigating insurance coverage for aba therapy. We are here for all of it.

Speech & Occupational Therapy Support

At MindWay ABA Therapy, we understand that many children benefit from a team approach to care. While we don't provide speech or occupational therapy directly, our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) can assist with transportation to outside therapy appointments and attend sessions alongside your child to ensure consistency across all therapies. This collaborative approach allows us to reinforce the skills your child is learning in speech and OT within their ABA sessions, creating a unified treatment experience that maximizes progress and helps skills generalize across all settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions from Caring Parents

Yes, parents can learn ABA therapy with the right training and support from a professional BCBA. The goal of ABA parent training is to empower parents to support their child’s progress by learning ABA strategies and techniques to implement outside of therapy sessions.

The 80/20 Rule in ABA Therapy describes the common goal of balancing mastered skills and un-learned skills during therapy sessions. When applying the 80/20 rule in ABA, therapists make it a goal to give 80% of tasks to a learner that involve skills they have already mastered, while giving only 20% of new or challenging tasks to a learner during an ABA therapy session.

Parent training is instrumental in the success of ABA therapy. Because children spend most of their time with their parents it is essential that parents are equipped with the skills they need to consistently implement and reinforce at home what is learned during ABA sessions.

ABA parent training works for autism because it fosters consistency in desired behavior for children diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). When therapists work with parents through coaching, modeling, and hands-on-practice, it gives them the confidence they need to work with their children at home with the goal of transitioning therapy skills to everyday life.
